Brow lift – Endoscopic forehead lift

Appearance: A heavy brow, with horizontal lines and forehead creases that can lead to drooping eyebrows, or furrowed lines above the nose.

Surgery: Forehead lift surgery will correct drooping of eyebrows, smooth the forehead and reduce frown lines and crow's feet.

Length of the operation: 2 hours

Anaesthesia: General or local anaesthetic and sedation at time of operation.

Description: This surgery is very similar to the face lift procedure, except that it uses an endoscope (a viewing instrument that requires only minimal incisions such as used in procedure for ears, nose, throat surgery or gynaecology). The surgeon is able to perform the entire operation though 5 tiny incisions hidden in the scalp.

Post-Operative: Bruises may occur along the upper part of the face. These may spread around the eyes and last 8 to 15 days. The stitches are removed on the 7th day. You may see definite results as from the second and third month.

Observations & Risks: The main advantage of this procedure is that there is very little scarring, though the risks remain the same as those in the facelift procedure. These are partial or incomplete paralysis of the facial nerves, manifested by a simple decrease in muscular strength along the eyebrows (nerve injury may impair the ability to raise eyebrows or wrinkle the forehead).
